01 · Visa

The Bhutan visa,
in plain English.

Bhutan operates a pre-paid visa system tied to your booking. We handle almost all of it — you just need a passport scan and a few weeks of lead time.

01 · Who needs one

Who actually needs a visa.

Everyone except citizens of India, Bangladesh and the Maldives needs a tourist visa to enter Bhutan. Indian nationals use a permit instead.

  • Most foreign passports · USD 100 / night SDF + USD 40 visa fee
  • Bangladeshi nationals · USD 15 / night SDF (discounted)
  • Indian nationals · INR 1,200 / night SDF + permit, no visa needed

02 · How it works

What happens once you book.

Once your itinerary is confirmed and the deposit cleared, we submit the visa application to the Department of Tourism on your behalf. Approval takes 7–14 days.

  1. 01 You send us a passport scan
  2. 02 We pay the SDF and submit the application
  3. 03 The approval letter arrives by email
  4. 04 You present it at Paro on arrival — the physical visa stamp is added there

03 · Paperwork

Documents to prepare.

  • Passport · valid for at least 6 months from departure date, with 2 clear pages
  • Digital passport photo · JPG, under 2 MB, recent
  • Travel insurance · recommended though not required
